Verdict
Sugar Rush turns a plain 7x7 cluster grid into a board that remembers: marked spots grow from x2 to x128 and, in free spins, stay for the whole round. The RTP is 96.50% whether you spin or buy, which keeps the maths simple. High volatility and a 5,000x cap mean long quiet stretches and a ceiling below newer sequels.
Best for: Players who like watching a grid build up during a bonus, and want one RTP figure for both spins and the buy.
Skip if: You want an ante bet, a cap above 5,000x or a game that pays steadily in the base game.

What we like
- Multiplier spots double each time, from x2 up to x128, and add together in one win
- Marked spots and multipliers stay in place for the whole free-spins round
- RTP is 96.50% both for normal play and for the buy, per the provider
- Up to 30 free spins from seven scatters, with retriggers at the same counts
Watch out for
- High volatility: most of the return sits in the free spins
- Top win is 5,000x the stake, lower than Sugar Rush 1000 and Super Scatter
- No ante bet, so the only shortcut to the bonus is the 100x buy
Sugar Rush is a Pragmatic Play cluster slot from June 2022. Its idea is simple to see and hard to forget: wherever a winning symbol explodes, the square it sat on is marked, and the next win on that square adds a multiplier that keeps doubling up to x128. In the free spins those marks never reset.
This page is about the game and where to play it. Use the Sugar Rush demo above with play money in Canadian dollars, then read on for how the multiplier spots build, what the 96.50% RTP and High volatility mean for a session, and which Canadian-facing casinos had the game in their lobbies in October 2026.

Clusters on a 7x7 board
Sugar Rush has no reels in the usual sense. Each spin fills a square of 49 positions, seven across and seven down. A win needs five or more identical symbols touching each other horizontally or vertically. Diagonal contact does not count, and the cluster can bend around corners as long as every symbol connects to the next one on a side.
Seven sweets fill the board, and the paytable rises sharply with cluster size. A five-symbol cluster of the top sweet, the pink lollipop, pays 1x the total bet. Ten of them pay 5x, thirteen pay 35x and fifteen or more pay 150x. The lowest sweet, the orange gummy bear, starts at 0.2x for five and reaches 20x for fifteen or more. The gumball machine is the scatter and pays nothing by itself; its job is to start the bonus.
Every win sets off a tumble. The winning cluster disappears, the symbols above drop into the gaps and new ones fall in from the top. If that forms a fresh cluster, it pays and the process repeats until the board settles. A single spin can therefore pay several times, and each payout feeds the multiplier spots described below.
How the multiplier spots build up
This is the mechanic that sets Sugar Rush apart. When a winning symbol explodes, the square it occupied is marked. The board shows the mark but no multiplier yet. If another winning symbol explodes on that same marked square later, the square gets a x2 multiplier. Each further explosion on it doubles the value again.
- First explosion: the square is marked
- Second explosion: x2
- Then x4, x8, x16, x32 and x64
- The value stops at x128
When a cluster covers more than one multiplied square, the multipliers are added together, not multiplied by each other, and the total applies to that cluster's win.
The rules describe the free spins as the round in which marked spots and their multipliers stay in place from the first spin to the last. That is why the game's larger results come from the bonus: a square has to be hit again and again before it carries a big value, and the free spins give it the time to get there. The whole grid can be marked, so in theory every one of the 49 squares can end up multiplied.
The order matters when you read a result. Each winning cluster is paid first at its paytable value, then multiplied by the sum of the multiplied squares beneath it. The cluster then explodes, which marks or doubles those squares again for the next tumble.
Casinos
Where to play Sugar Rush
How we know: a casino is listed when its published provider list includes Pragmatic Play; "seen" means the title was in its own top-games row on that date.
Finding a Sugar Rush online casino in your province
Playing Sugar Rush for real money means opening it inside a casino account, and the legal options depend on where you live. Ontario's market is made up of sites registered with the AGCO that hold an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. Alberta's regulated sites, live since 13 July 2026, are registered with the AGLC and contracted with AiGC. Every other province runs its own government site. Offshore casinos accept Canadians in some provinces but hold no provincial licence. Players must be 19, or 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
For a casino Sugar Rush players can rely on, the useful test is whether the title is actually in the lobby. These pages showed it on the dates given:
| Casino | Where we saw it | Date |
|---|---|---|
| BetMGM | Alberta site, new-player offer page | 23 October 2026 |
| Wheel of Fortune Casino | Ontario app listing | 23 October 2026 |
| Lucky Days | Canadian homepage | 23 October 2026 |
| 24Casino | Canadian bonus terms page | 28 October 2026 |
A sighting holds for that site only. Search the lobby yourself before you deposit, because lobbies change and a brand's sites in different provinces can carry different games.
Features
How Sugar Rush plays

Free spins: the board keeps its memory
Three or more gumball machines anywhere on the grid start the free spins. The number of scatters sets the length of the round:
| Scatters | Free spins |
|---|---|
| 3 | 10 |
| 4 | 12 |
| 5 | 15 |
| 6 | 20 |
| 7 | 30 |
The decisive difference from the base game is that marked squares and their multipliers stay on the board for the entire round. A square that reached x16 on the third free spin is still x16 on the tenth, and it can keep doubling up to x128. Over a long round, more of the grid turns into multiplied squares, so later tumbles can pay far more than early ones. Landing three to seven scatters again during the round adds spins on the same scale.
Buying the round
The buy costs 100x the bet and drops between three and seven scatters at random on the trigger spin, so the length of the round is not fixed in advance. At the C$0.20 minimum stake, the purchase is C$20. There is no ante bet in Sugar Rush, so the buy is the only way to shortcut the trigger.
Maths
RTP and volatility in dollars
Over a very long run, Sugar Rush is set to pay back about C$96.50 of every C$100 wagered; the house keeps about C$3.50. At C$1 a spin, 500 spins means C$500 wagered and an expected cost of about C$17.50 - real sessions land far above or below that.
The same game also exists at 96.50%. A lower version costs more per C$100 wagered, and the casino - not you - picks which one runs.
High volatility: long dry spells are normal; most of the return sits in rare big features. The cap is 5,000x: C$5,000 on a C$1 spin.
What 96.50% and High volatility mean for a session
Pragmatic Play lists Sugar Rush at 96.50% RTP and gives the same 96.50% for the buy. Several newer Pragmatic games, Sugar Rush 1000 among them, list a different figure for some modes, so having one number across spins and the buy makes this game easy to judge. The RTP still describes the long run only: over millions of spins, the game returns 96.50% of what was wagered. It does not predict what one evening will look like.
The volatility label in the game's own rules is High, on Pragmatic's three-step Low, Medium and High scale. Some websites quote an older rating on a one-to-five scale; the in-game label is the one we use. High means the base game alone rarely keeps a balance level for long. The bigger payouts depend on free spins with a well-built board, and those rounds can be far apart.
The top win is 5,000x the stake, which at the C$0.20 minimum is C$1,000 and at the C$240 maximum is C$1.2 million. Real-money bet limits are set by each casino, so check yours. For more on these terms, see our guides to RTP versions and volatility.
Sugar Rush demo mode: what to learn before you pay
Sugar Rush demo mode is the best way to see how the multiplier spots behave, because the build-up is easier to follow when nothing is at stake. The Sugar Rush free demo on this page is Pragmatic Play's own version. It runs in the browser with play money in Canadian dollars, needs no account and uses the same rules as the paid game.
- Watch a tumble chain from start to finish and count how many squares reach x2 or more before the board clears.
- Note how long the base game runs between scatter hits. With a High rating, gaps can be long.
- Open the info screen and read the RTP line. In a real casino, that line confirms which version you are playing.
People also look for Sugar Rush free spins no deposit offers. The game itself has no promotions; any free-spin deal is a casino's, with that casino's list of eligible games and its wagering rules. Read them on our free spins page before you rely on one. If you just want to play Sugar Rush without paying, the demo needs nothing at all, and anything you win in it stays in the Sugar Rush demo.
Is the 100x buy worth it?
The buy is the only shortcut Sugar Rush offers, so it deserves a clear look. It costs 100x your stake and starts the free spins on the next spin. What it does not fix is the length of the round: the trigger drops three to seven scatters at random, so a purchase can give anything from 10 to 30 free spins.
Because Pragmatic lists the same 96.50% RTP for the buy as for normal play, buying does not improve the long-run return. It changes how the cost arrives. Instead of spreading 100 stakes across 100 base spins, you pay them in one go for a single bonus round, and that round can return much less than its price as easily as much more.
- One buy at the C$0.20 minimum stake costs C$20, the same as 100 spins at that stake.
- A short round of 10 spins and a long round of 30 cost the same.
- Some builds hide the buy; the UK version is one of them.
If you try it, try it in the demo first and watch several bought rounds in a row. That shows how wide the spread of results is better than any description can. Our bonus buy slots page lists other games with the same option.

Sugar Rush, Sugar Rush 1000 or Super Scatter?
The original now has two direct follow-ups on the same 7x7 board. Their published figures differ in ways that matter:
| Game | RTP (default) | Top win | Buy options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sugar Rush | 96.50% | 5,000x | 100x |
| Sugar Rush 1000 | 96.53% | 25,000x | 100x and 500x |
| Sugar Rush Super Scatter | 96.58% | 50,000x | 100x and 500x |
All three carry a High volatility label. Sugar Rush 1000 lists several RTP versions, including 96.00% on the provider page, so the info screen matters more there. Sugar Rush Super Scatter has the highest cap of the three and more paid modes. The original is the simplest: one buy, one RTP and a lower ceiling.
The choice comes down to what you want from a session. If the appeal is watching squares climb towards x128 without extra modes to manage, the original does exactly that and nothing more. If you want the chance of a much larger single result and accept pricier options, the sequels offer it on the same board. Whichever you open, the game's name appears on its loading screen and in the info menu, which is the quickest way to make sure the lobby tile led you to the version you meant. For more grids of this type, see our cluster pays slots.

Yes. The demo on this page is Pragmatic Play's own play-money version in Canadian dollars. It needs no account or deposit and uses the same rules and paytable as the real game. Winnings in the demo are not real money and cannot be withdrawn.
A single marked square can reach x128. It starts at x2 on the second explosion and doubles each time after that. When one winning cluster covers several multiplied squares, their values are added together and applied to that win.
Yes. The rules inside the game rate it High on Pragmatic Play's Low, Medium and High scale. Expect long stretches where the base game pays little, with most of the return arriving in free spins.
