Ten lines and a tomb that does two jobs

Legacy of Dead uses a familiar frame: five reels, three rows and ten paylines. What makes it more than a plain line slot is a single symbol. The tomb acts as the wild, standing in for other symbols on a line, and as the scatter, paying wherever it lands and opening the free spins.

As a scatter the tomb pays on the total bet: 2x for three, 20x for four and 200x for five, anywhere on the reels. As a line symbol it also has its own paytable entry, with five on a line paying 5,000x the line bet. Three or more tombs anywhere start the free-spins round, which is the core of the game.

The rest of the symbols are Egyptian figures and card ranks. Two of the figures stand out: the blue pharaoh pays the same as the tomb on a line, and Anubis is the next step down. The gold pharaoh and Horus, the falcon, share a lower tier, and the five card ranks fill the bottom of the table.

No buy, no ante

There is no bonus buy and no ante bet. The only way into the free spins is three or more tombs, which keeps the game simple and keeps every spin at the stake you chose.

Line bet or total bet: reading the paytable

Play'n GO quotes most of this paytable in multiples of the line bet, not the total bet. A full spin plays ten lines, so one line bet is a tenth of your stake when all lines are active. The scatter pay is the exception and is quoted on the total bet.

All values are multiples of the line bet. Divide by ten to read them against your total stake with every line active: five blue pharaohs on a line, at 5,000x the line bet, equal 500x the total bet. The four premium figures pay from two on a line, while card ranks need three.

The bet is built from lines, coins and coin value. In the demo, the smallest bet is 0.01 with one line and one coin, or 0.10 with all ten lines. The largest is 100, from ten lines of five coins at 2.00 each. These are demo-currency figures; real casinos set their own limits in dollars.

Playing Legacy of Dead online in Canada

Legacy of Dead online play is available wherever a casino runs Play'n GO and has added this title. We record where the game was visible, with the date. Free spins that collect expanding symbols

Three or more tombs award eight free spins. One regular symbol is picked at random to be the round's special expanding symbol. Whenever it lands during the free spins, it grows to cover its whole reel and pays on the lines with gaps allowed, which means its reels do not need to sit next to each other.

Retriggers are where Legacy of Dead goes its own way. Three or more tombs during the round add eight more spins and pick another expanding symbol. The new one joins the first rather than replacing it, so the round can end up with several symbols expanding at once. Through repeated retriggers, up to nine expanding symbols can be active.

1. Trigger: 3 or more tombs, 8 free spins, one expanding symbol.
2. First retrigger: 8 more spins and a second expanding symbol.
3. Each further retrigger: 8 more spins and one more symbol, up to nine in total.

Which symbol is chosen matters a great deal. A blue pharaoh expanding across five reels pays 5,000x the line bet on each active line, which is how the game reaches its cap. A card rank expanding pays far less. Because the picks are random, two rounds of the same length can end very differently.

The optional gamble feature

After a win you can choose to gamble it. The game offers two bets: pick the colour of a hidden card to double the win, or pick its suit to multiply it by four. You can gamble up to five times in a row, and the feature stops at a cap of 2,500 coins.

The game's rules state that the gamble does not change the RTP. Taking it or not makes no difference to the long-run return; it only changes how your results are spread. A colour pick wins a double or loses the whole amount, and a suit pick quadruples it or loses it.

A published RTP, a sourced cap and no volatility rating

Play'n GO does not print RTP, volatility or maximum win on its own game page for Legacy of Dead. The RTP of 96.58% comes from the provider's game-help page for the Malta jurisdiction. The demo's default rules screen does not show it. Play'n GO does not openly publish lower versions for operators, so we cannot list alternatives, and the figure at your casino may differ. The rules screen inside the game is where to confirm it.

The 5,000x cap comes from the game itself. The demo states a win of up to 250,000 coins, and at the largest bet of 50 coins that equals 5,000x the stake. Play'n GO's game page uses the same 250,000-coin wording.

Play'n GO publishes no volatility rating on its game page or in the game help, and we do not borrow one from other websites. What the design tells you is limited: a fixed-line base game, a free-spins round whose value depends on which symbols are picked and how often it retriggers, and a cap that needs the top symbol expanding. The Legacy of Dead demo

The demo on this page is Play'n GO's own version. It runs in a play currency labelled DEMO, as Play'n GO offers no Canadian dollar option for it, and it runs in the browser with no account or deposit. The reels, paytable and features are those of the real game, so it is a reliable preview.

Three things are worth watching in a demo session:

• How the lines, coins and coin value combine into your total bet.
• Which symbol the free spins pick, and how much difference it makes when it expands.
• How a retrigger adds a second expanding symbol without removing the first.

Demo wins are play money and cannot be withdrawn. The demo also cannot show you the RTP version a real casino runs, so look at the rules screen again when you open the game for money. Legacy of Dead or Book of Dead?

The two Play'n GO tomb slots share a lot: ten lines, a tomb that is both wild and scatter, an optional gamble and a 5,000x cap. The difference sits in the free spins.

Legacy of Dead gives fewer spins to start with but a round that can grow; Book of Dead gives more spins with a single expanding symbol. Legacy also lists the higher RTP of the two.
