Wilds that multiply each other

The grid has six reels, and each reel lands with between two and seven symbols on every spin. Multiply the reel heights together and you get the number of ways for that spin, up to 117,649 when every reel shows seven. Megaways is Big Time Gaming's mechanic, which Pragmatic Play uses under licence.

The wild is a dog house. It lands only on reels 2 to 5 and carries a multiplier of 2x or 3x. The rule that defines the game is how those multipliers combine: when more than one wild is part of the same win, their multipliers are multiplied together. A 2x wild and a 3x wild in one win give 6x; two 3x wilds give 9x. Buffalo King Megaways, from the same studio, adds its wild multipliers instead, so the dogs' rule makes wins with several wilds climb faster.

The scatter is a paw print. Three or more start the free spins, and the number you land sets the length and strength of the round. The round can also be bought for 100x the stake.

No confirmed launch date

Pragmatic Play's own pages do not give a release date we could confirm, so we leave it out rather than guess.

The dogs and what they pay

Four dog breeds and two dog items make up the premium symbols, and card ranks fill the lower end. Every value below is a multiple of the total bet, read from the demo paytable:

The base values are small; six Rottweilers pay 7.5x. What lifts them is the number of ways and the wilds. On a tall grid, one set of symbols can count along many ways at once, and each multiplied wild in the win raises the total. The paytable is the starting point, and the wild rule does most of the work.

Note that the collar and the bone pay exactly the same, as do the three card ranks A, K and Q. Only the Rottweiler pays more than 3x for six of a kind.

The Dog House Megaways online: where we saw it

Sticky Wilds or Raining Wilds: picking your free spins

Every time three to six paw scatters land, the game asks you to choose between two rounds. They pay out in very different ways.

Sticky Wilds gives fewer spins. The rules give a range of 2 to 7 sticky wilds per reel, or 3 to 7 when six scatters start the round. Each wild carries 1x, 2x or 3x and stays in place until the round ends. This round cannot be retriggered, so its length is fixed from the start.

Raining Wilds gives more spins at every scatter level. Nothing sticks; instead, up to six wilds with 1x to 3x multipliers land on each spin. Because wild multipliers in one win multiply each other, a spin that collects several wilds on the same win can still pay well.

Pragmatic does not publish separate figures for each round, so there is no right answer. Sticky Wilds puts its value up front in a short round; Raining Wilds spreads chances over more spins. The demo is the place to see both before you choose with real money.

The 100x buy

The bonus buy costs 100x the stake. When you use it, three to six scatters land at random on the next spin, so the purchase does not fix the size of the round. You still choose Sticky Wilds or Raining Wilds afterwards. At the demo's smallest stake of C$0.20 a buy costs C$20; at the largest base stake of C$240 it costs C$24,000.

Pragmatic does not list a separate RTP for the buy in this game, and the in-game rules show no other version. That makes 96.55% the only figure to go on. Buying does not tilt the long-run return towards you; it compresses 100 stakes into one result, and that result can be far smaller than the price.

Two practical points before you press the button:

• The buy is part of the international build of the game. Some builds, the UK one among them, leave it out, so a casino may not offer it.
• Real-money stake limits are set by each casino, so the C$240 demo maximum may not apply in your account.

The Dog House Megaways RTP and the 12,000x line

The Dog House Megaways RTP is 96.55% according to Pragmatic Play, and the game shows no alternative versions in its own rules. Read the rules screen in the game at your casino to confirm the figure that applies there.

The volatility label is Medium, which sits between Pragmatic's Low and High labels.

The top win needs care. The game's intro screen says you can win up to 12,000x the bet. The full rules and Pragmatic's game page do not state a cap. We use the 12,000x figure because it comes from the game itself, but we flag where it comes from. At the demo's C$0.20 minimum stake it equals C$2,400.

Among Megaways games from the same studio, Buffalo King Megaways makes a useful contrast.
