Verdict
Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 is the Christmas edition of Gates of Olympus 1000, and Pragmatic built it on the same maths: identical paytable, scatter pays and 15 free spins. You get high volatility, multiplier orbs from 2x to 1,000x in every mode, a 15,000x cap and RTP between 96.49% and 96.50%. If you already play the 1000 edition, only the look changes.
Best for: Players who like Gates of Olympus 1000 and want the same game with a winter theme.
Skip if: You want frequent small wins; this is rated high volatility and long cold runs are normal.

Watch out for
- High volatility: most spins pay little or nothing

- The 100x buy costs C$200 at a C$2 bet
Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 arrived from Pragmatic Play on 2 December 2024 as a festive version of Gates of Olympus 1000. Zeus wears a Santa hat as the scatter, but under the decorations the game is the same one: a 6x5 grid that pays for eight or more matching symbols anywhere, tumbling wins, multiplier orbs worth 2x to 1,000x and 15 free spins.
The default RTP is 96.50%, the in-game rules label it high volatility, and the top win is 15,000 times the stake. This page goes through how the multipliers work in each mode, what the Ante Bet and the 100x buy change, how it lines up against the rest of the Olympus series, and which casinos that accept Canadians carry Pragmatic Play games.

The Gates of Olympus 1000 Xmas demo
The Gates of Olympus 1000 Xmas demo above runs on Pragmatic Play's own demo server in Canadian dollars. When it was checked on 28 October 2026 it was working, with a Canadian-dollar play balance and a Buy Free Spins button that asked C$200 at a C$2 stake. Nothing you win in it is real, and it needs no account.
Pragmatic's demo server picks regional settings on its own, and in some regions it removes the buy option. If the button is missing when you open it, that is why. The rules screen inside the game is the more useful part anyway. It shows:
- the RTP for normal play, Ante Bet and the buy;
- the full list of multiplier values, from 2x up to 1,000x;
- the stake range, from C$0.20 to C$240 base and up to C$300 with Ante Bet;
- the payout for every symbol at your chosen bet.
Use the demo to get a feel for the volatility before you put money in. A high-volatility slot can go a long way between features, and seeing that with play money is cheaper than learning it at a casino. More free versions of Pragmatic games are on our free slots page.
Casinos
Where to play Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000
How we know: a casino is listed when its published provider list includes Pragmatic Play; "seen" means the title was in its own top-games row on that date.
Where to play Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 in Canada
Our list of casinos above includes a site when its own provider list names Pragmatic Play. That tells you the studio's games are offered, not that this festive title is in every lobby or province, so look it up by name before any deposit. Some examples, with the Olympus title we saw in each top-games row:
- Casino Days - the original Gates of Olympus featured among its top games on 23 October 2026.
- Casumo - lists Pragmatic Play; the first Gates of Olympus was one of its featured top games in an archived copy of its Canadian page dated 23 September 2026.
- Pinnacle - it showed the original Gates of Olympus among its top games when checked on 23 October 2026.
- LeoVegas - names Pragmatic Play first in its provider list.
Which site you can use depends on your province. Ontario permits real-money play only at sites the AGCO has registered and that have signed an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. Since 13 July 2026, Alberta has its own regulated sites, each registered with the AGLC and contracted to AiGC. Elsewhere, each province runs its own site, and offshore casinos have no provincial licence. The legal age is 19 in most provinces and 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.

Same engine as Gates of Olympus 1000
Pragmatic gave this edition its own game code, but the rules match Gates of Olympus 1000 point for point: the same paytable, the same scatter-pay rule and the same 15 free spins. The default RTP of 96.50% and the 15,000x cap are also shared. If you have a view on the 1000 edition, it applies here.
The paytable rewards bigger clusters sharply. Top of the table is the crown: 10x the bet when eight or nine land anywhere, 25x at ten or eleven, 50x at twelve and up. The hourglass pays 2.5x, 10x and 25x on the same steps, and the ring 2x, 5x and 15x. Below them, the chalice and five coloured gems fill the grid with smaller pays, down to the blue gem at 0.25x for eight or nine.
The scatter, Zeus in a Santa hat, pays wherever it lands - four of them return 3x, five return 5x, six return 100x. Four or more also start the free spins.
Every win triggers a tumble. The paying symbols vanish, new ones fall into the gaps and the grid is checked again, until a drop brings no new win. A single spin can therefore pay several times before it ends, and that matters for the multipliers, because they are counted at the end of the whole sequence, not after each drop.
Multiplier orbs from 2x to 1,000x
The winged orbs are what turn a modest tumble into a large win. Each one carries a random value from this list: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x or 1,000x. They can land on any spin, in the base game as well as in free spins.
How they pay is simple once you see it in the demo. All the orbs on the grid during a tumble sequence are added together when the sequence ends, and the total multiplies that sequence's win. Two orbs showing 10x and 25x give 35x. An orb that lands on a spin with no win pays nothing.
The top value goes with the bigger cap: the 1000 editions stop at 15,000x, while the 2021 original stops at 5,000x. A 1,000x orb on a good tumble can carry a single base-game spin a long way, and it is also why the volatility label is high. Pragmatic does not publish how often each value appears.
Treat the 1,000x figure as the ceiling of one symbol, not a typical result. Our guide to max win odds explains what a rare top prize means for a typical session.
Fifteen free spins with a running multiplier
The bonus opens with 15 free spins for four or more scatters; another 5 are added each time three or more scatters appear inside it. Special reels are in play for the feature.
The free spins change one rule that matters a lot. In the base game, orbs count only for the tumble sequence they land in. In the bonus, each orb that lands on a winning spin adds its value to a total multiplier that carries over from spin to spin for the rest of the round. A 20x orb early in the feature keeps working on every later win. This is where the biggest results come from, and it is why the order of hits matters: an orb on the first winning spin is worth more than the same orb on the last.
A few points to keep in mind:
- Orbs on a spin with no win do not add to the running total.
- Retriggers add 5 spins each time, so the running multiplier gets more spins to work on.
- Orbs keep the same 2x to 1,000x range in the bonus as in the base game.
Because the bonus is the main source of large wins, a session without one can feel thin. That is normal for a high-volatility title and not a sign that the game is broken or cold.
Maths
RTP and volatility in dollars
Over a very long run, Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 is set to pay back about C$96.50 of every C$100 wagered; the house keeps about C$3.50. At C$1 a spin, 500 spins means C$500 wagered and an expected cost of about C$17.50 - real sessions land far above or below that.
The same game also exists at 96.50%, 96.49%. A lower version costs more per C$100 wagered, and the casino - not you - picks which one runs.
High volatility: long dry spells are normal; most of the return sits in rare big features. The cap is 15,000x: C$15,000 on a C$1 spin.
Ante Bet, the 100x buy and what each costs
The two options change the price of reaching the free spins rather than the return. The figures come from the in-game rules.
| Mode | Cost | At a C$2.00 base bet | RTP | Published cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal play | 1x stake | C$2.00 a spin | 96.50% | 15,000x |
| Ante Bet | 1.25x stake | C$2.50 a spin | 96.50% | 12,000x |
| Buy Free Spins | 100x base bet | C$200 | 96.49% | 15,000x (game cap) |
With Ante Bet, the stake is worked out on 25x instead of 20x; in exchange the free spins come naturally twice as often, and the buy disappears. In the game data the Ante Bet ceiling is 12,000x, so you pay more per spin and the published ceiling drops. The buy guarantees four scatters on the trigger spin.
The RTP column shows that none of the three is a better deal over the long run. The difference is in how your budget is used: the buy puts 100 base bets on one round, which can end below its price. If you want other games with the option, see bonus buy slots, and read our RTP versions guide on why the info screen is the only figure that counts.

The Olympus line-up side by side
Pragmatic now has several versions of this game in lobbies, and the published numbers help you choose.
| Game | Released | Default RTP | Volatility | Max win |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus | Feb 2021 | 96.50% | Medium | 5,000x |
| Gates of Olympus 1000 | Dec 2023 | 96.50% | High | 15,000x |
| Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 | Dec 2024 | 96.50% | High | 15,000x |
The original is the gentler pick, with medium volatility and a lower ceiling. The two 1000 editions are the same game in different clothes. There are also Gates of Olympus Super Scatter and Gates of Olympus 2500, each with its own page and figures.
If you like the theme but not the swings, start with the original. If you want the larger multipliers, either 1000 edition gives you the same maths, so pick whichever your casino carries at the 96.50% setting.
One practical tip: because the two 1000 editions share their maths, a casino promotion that names either one does not change the game you get, only the terms around it. Compare the wagering and expiry of the offer, not the theme.
Before you play it for real money
The festive theme makes this look like a light seasonal game, but the numbers say otherwise. It is rated high volatility, the large wins depend on rare orbs and a running multiplier in the bonus, and a session can go a long way without free spins. Plan for that before the first spin.
- Fix a session budget first, then a stake small enough to last several hundred spins. The minimum base bet is C$0.20.
- Decide whether you will use Ante Bet or the buy, and stick to one approach per session. At C$2 a spin, Ante Bet makes each spin C$2.50 and a buy costs C$200.
- Check the RTP line in the rules screen at your casino.
- Stop at your limit, win or lose. The house edge works on every spin, whatever happened on the last one.
Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are the tools that help most. Provincial self-exclusion programs cover only the regulated sites of that province. Our responsible gambling page lists where to find help in each province.
Gates of Olympus Xmas 1000 questions
In its rules, yes. Pragmatic Play gave it its own game code, but the paytable, scatter pays, 15 free spins, 96.50% RTP and 15,000x cap match Gates of Olympus 1000. The difference is the Christmas look, including Zeus in a Santa hat as the scatter.
Yes. Pragmatic Play supplies the demo shown here; it uses Canadian-dollar play credits and asks for no sign-up or deposit. If the buy button does not show, the demo server has applied a regional setting. Demo winnings cannot be cashed out.
The in-game rules list 96.50% for normal play, 96.50% with Ante Bet and 96.49% for Buy Free Spins. The casino's copy of the rules screen is where to confirm it. A higher stake does not change the long-run return, and the buy lowers it by only 0.01 percentage points.
Pragmatic Play's launch news says wins of up to 15,000x, and the game data agrees. With Ante Bet switched on, the game data lists a lower 12,000x cap. Results that large are very rare on a game rated high volatility.
Nothing in Pragmatic Play's rules limits it to a season. Whether a casino keeps it in the lobby all year is the casino's choice, so search for it by name. The demo on this page is available at any time.
