What we like

  • Every mode and buy lists an RTP between 96.49% and 96.52%
  • Four free spins types, including two Super versions with a 10x minimum multiplier
  • Orbs up to 2,500x and a 25,000x cap
  • Super Spins guarantee at least one multiplier every spin

Watch out for

  • High volatility by the game's own label
  • Super Spin 2 costs 250x the base bet per spin
  • Provider page and game disagree on the RTP (96.51% vs 96.52%)

Gates of Olympus 2500 is the September 2026 instalment of Pragmatic Play's Zeus series, and the most elaborate of the versions we cover. The 6x5 scatter-pays grid and the tumbling gems are unchanged. Around them sit multiplier orbs worth up to 2,500x, a wheel that chooses between four kinds of free spins, three Ante Bets, two Super Spin modes and four bonus buys. The top prize is 25,000 times the stake.

All those options make the game easy to overspend on without noticing, because several modes multiply the cost of a spin. This page lays out what each mode does and what it costs at the C$0.20 minimum, explains the difference between the free spins types, and covers the RTP, the demo and where Canadians can find it.

What changed from the original grid

The base rules are the familiar ones. Six reels by five rows, wins for eight or more matching symbols anywhere on screen, and tumbles that remove winners and drop in new symbols until no fresh win forms. The paytable matches the earlier Olympus games: the crown pays 10x, 25x and 50x the total bet for 8-9, 10-11 and 12 or more, and the blue gem 0.25x, 0.75x and 2x. Zeus scatters pay 3x for four, 5x for five and 100x for six or more.

The differences are in the multipliers and the number of ways to play:

  • Orbs reach 2,500x. Multiplier symbols land with random values from 2x to 2,500x on any spin or tumble. As in the rest of the series, all orbs at the end of a tumble sequence are added together and applied to that sequence's win.
  • The free spins come in four types, picked by a wheel.
  • There are three Ante Bets and two Super Spin modes, each raising the cost of a spin.
  • Four buys let you choose which free spins type you pay for.

The cap is 25,000 times the stake. On the C$0.20 minimum that is C$5,000. More from the studio is on our Pragmatic Play page.

Casinos

Where to play Gates of Olympus 2500

How we know: a casino is listed when its published provider list includes Pragmatic Play; "seen" means the title was in its own top-games row on that date.

All casinos with Pragmatic Play games

Finding Gates of Olympus 2500 at a casino

Five casinos we cover had the game in their own top-games row: BitStarz Casino, PokerStars Casino and Bally Bet on 23 October 2026, Snatch Casino on 28 October 2026, and PlayOJO Casino in an archived copy of its Canadian offshore homepage from 14 October 2026.

The list above adds casinos that name Pragmatic Play among their providers, including Stake Casino, Casino Days, Roobet Casino, the Alberta site of FanDuel Casino and OLG in Ontario. The game is new, so a provider listing is no proof it is in the lobby yet; search for the full title.

At the casino, check three things in the game: the RTP, which bet modes are available, and whether the buy menu appears. All three can depend on the casino and the rules it operates under.

Legal options depend on your province. Ontario regulates through AGCO registration and iGaming Ontario agreements. Alberta's regulated market, live since 13 July 2026, runs through AGLC registration and AiGC agreements. Other provinces run their own site, and offshore casinos hold no provincial licence. Real-money play is 19+, or 18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. See our legal online casinos page for details.

The free spins wheel: four possible rounds

Four or more scatters award 15 free spins, and then a wheel decides which kind of round you get. There are four outcomes:

RoundHow multipliers workMinimum orb value
Free Spins 1Orbs on winning spins add to a running total that multiplies wins2x
Free Spins 2Every orb that lands adds to a total that applies to all following wins2x
Super Free Spins 1As Free Spins 110x
Super Free Spins 2As Free Spins 210x

In every type, three or more scatters during the round add five more spins.

The two Super versions keep the rules of their base type but raise the lowest possible orb from 2x to 10x. That removes the smallest multipliers from the round entirely, which is why they are the stronger outcomes on the wheel.

You cannot choose the outcome on a natural trigger. The wheel decides. The third Ante Bet improves the odds of the stronger types, and the buys let you pay for a specific one directly, both covered below.

Free Spins 1 or 2: the detail that changes everything

The two round types sound alike but behave differently, and the difference is in one condition.

Free Spins 1: only orbs on winning spins count

An orb adds to the running total only if it lands on a spin that produces a win. Orbs on a losing spin are lost. This is the same logic as the original Gates of Olympus free spins.

Free Spins 2: every orb counts

Every orb that lands adds to the total multiplier, win or no win, and that total then applies to all following wins in the round. Nothing is wasted. A round can bank a large total early and apply it to every win that follows.

What that means for a round

In Free Spins 2 the total multiplier can grow on spins that pay nothing, so it has more ways to build than in Free Spins 1. That makes it the stronger of the two base types on paper, and the buy prices point the same way: Free Spins 2 costs 250x against 100x for Free Spins 1.

Neither type changes the long-run return; the game lists the same RTP for both buys. The difference is in how a single round can develop. Watching both types in the demo is the clearest way to see it, and our how slots work guide explains tumbles and multipliers in more depth.

Maths

RTP and volatility in dollars

Over a very long run, Gates of Olympus 2500 is set to pay back about C$96.52 of every C$100 wagered; the house keeps about C$3.48. At C$1 a spin, 500 spins means C$500 wagered and an expected cost of about C$17.40 - real sessions land far above or below that.

The same game also exists at 96.51%, 96.49%, 96.49%, 96.49%, 96.50%, 96.50%, 96.50%, 96.50%, 96.50%, 96.50%. A lower version costs more per C$100 wagered, and the casino - not you - picks which one runs.

High volatility: long dry spells are normal; most of the return sits in rare big features. The cap is 25,000x: C$25,000 on a C$1 spin.

Three Ante Bets, three prices

The Ante Bets raise the cost of every spin in exchange for a better chance of free spins. The figures below come from the game's bet multipliers:

ModeStakeCost at C$0.20 baseEffect
Standard1xC$0.20Normal chance of free spins
Ante 11.25xC$0.25Twice the chance of free spins
Ante 22.75xC$0.55Eight times the chance of free spins
Ante 35.5xC$1.10Eight times the chance, plus better odds of the stronger free spins types

The game lists 96.49% for each Ante Bet, a hair under the 96.52% default. So the trade is not about long-run value; it is about how often you see the bonus, and how much each spin costs on the way.

Ante 2 and Ante 3 share the same trigger rate. What the extra cost of Ante 3 buys is a better chance of landing a Super round on the wheel.

At the C$240 base maximum, Ante 3 means C$1,320 a spin. Whatever stake you choose, work out the Ante cost before you switch it on. Our wagering calculator can help if you are playing through a bonus at the same time.

Super Spins: a multiplier on every spin

Super Spins are a different kind of mode. Instead of improving the chance of free spins, they guarantee multipliers on every base spin:

  • Super Spin 1 costs 20 times the base bet and lands at least one multiplier orb on every spin. At C$0.20 that is C$4 a spin.
  • Super Spin 2 costs 250 times the base bet and lands at least one orb worth 25x or more on every spin. At C$0.20 that is C$50 a spin.

Free spins cannot trigger in either mode. You are paying for a stronger base game, not for a path to the bonus.

The game lists 96.50% for both Super Spin modes. As with the Ante Bets, the long-run return barely moves; the cost per spin is what changes, and it changes a lot. At the top base bet of C$240, Super Spin 2 brings the total stake to C$60,000 a spin.

Remember too that a guaranteed orb is not a guaranteed win. An orb only pays if its tumble sequence produces a win, so a Super Spin can still return nothing.

If you are curious about either mode, try it in the demo first, where the cost is play money.

Four buys, from 100x to 1,250x

The buy menu lets you pick which free spins type you pay for, instead of leaving it to the wheel:

BuyPriceCost at C$0.20RTP listed
Free Spins 1100xC$2096.50%
Free Spins 2250xC$5096.50%
Super Free Spins 1500xC$10096.50%
Super Free Spins 21,250xC$25096.50%

All four list the same RTP. The price climbs with the strength of the round, so you are not getting a better deal at the top of the menu, only a larger single stake on a more powerful round. Any bought round can still finish below its price.

At the C$240 base maximum, the top buy would cost C$300,000. That figure is a reason to set a firm budget before opening the menu, not a target.

The demo's buy menu depends on its region setting: under UK rules the server hides the buys and caps the stake at C$660, while the international setting shows them. We could not confirm which a Canadian visitor gets. Other games with buys are on our bonus buy slots page.

Where it sits in the Olympus line

The series now runs from the 2021 original to this game, with Gates of Olympus, Gates of Olympus 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter all covered on our site.

The progression is easy to follow. The original has one free spins type, one Ante Bet and one buy, with orbs to 500x and a 5,000x cap. The 1000 raises the orbs to 1,000x and the cap to 15,000x. Super Scatter keeps the 500x orbs but adds a special scatter: four of them, with at least four scatters on screen, pay 50,000x the base bet. The 2500 takes the orbs to 2,500x, sets the cap at 25,000x and adds the wheel, the extra Ante Bets, the Super Spins and the four buys.

If you want the series at its simplest, start with the original. If you want the most choice, this is the one. Each has a free demo on its page, so you can compare them directly.

RTP: almost the same in every mode

The game's own rules and the data it loads give a default RTP of 96.52%. Pragmatic Play's web page shows 96.51%. We use the in-game figure because it describes the build that runs, but the gap is a hundredth of a percentage point.

The more useful finding is how little the RTP moves between modes. Across the default, three Ante Bets, two Super Spins and four buys, every listed figure sits between 96.49% and 96.52%. Choosing a mode is therefore a choice about cost per spin and the shape of the risk, not about long-run value.

At 96.52%, the theoretical house edge is 3.48% of everything wagered over time. Your own sessions will land far from that average, especially on a game with a High label.

Casinos can still run different versions, so open the info screen at your casino and confirm the figure. Our RTP versions guide shows how.

High volatility and how to budget for it

The game's rules label it High on Pragmatic's three-step scale. With orbs up to 2,500x and a 25,000x cap, that fits: the large results are rare, and long runs of small returns are part of normal play.

The cost multipliers make budgeting more important than usual. The same base bet can cost 1x, 1.25x, 2.75x, 5.5x, 20x or 250x per spin depending on the mode, and a buy can cost up to 1,250x at once. A few habits help:

  • Choose the mode before you choose the stake. Work out the real cost per spin first.
  • Set a session budget in dollars, not in spins. Spins in different modes cost very different amounts.
  • Treat the cap as a ceiling. C$5,000 on a C$0.20 base bet is the most a spin can return, not an expected result.
  • Use your casino's limits. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are on our responsible gambling page.

Our volatility guide and max-win odds page explain what the High label and the cap do and do not tell you. More games in this band are on the high-volatility slots list.
