Verdict

Sweet Bonanza is still one of the easiest slots to pick up: eight matching symbols anywhere pay, and the free spins add bombs worth 2x to 100x that are added together. Pragmatic rates it Low volatility, yet the top win is 21,100x. The catch is the RTP: the provider page and the in-game rules give different figures, so check the info screen at your casino.

Best for: Players who want a simple pay-anywhere slot with a high cap and a free demo in Canadian dollars.

Skip if: You want paylines, a story-driven bonus or one fixed RTP figure you can rely on at every casino.

What we like

  • Wins pay anywhere: 8 or more matching symbols on the 6x5 grid, no paylines to follow
  • Bombs of 2x to 100x in free spins are added together, so one tumble can stack several
  • Top win of 21,100x the stake, high for a game Pragmatic labels Low volatility
  • Free Pragmatic demo in Canadian dollars, with the full rules on the info screens

Watch out for

  • Provider page says 96.48% RTP while the in-game rules give 96.49% to 96.60%
  • Multiplier bombs appear only in free spins, so the base game pays plain wins
  • Bonus buy costs 100x the stake and is missing from some builds, such as the UK one

Sweet Bonanza is Pragmatic Play's candy-themed pay-anywhere slot. It came out in June 2019 and still turned up on the game rows of several casinos open to Canadians in October 2026. There are no paylines: eight or more matching candies or fruits anywhere on the 6x5 grid pay, the winners drop away and new symbols fall in.

This page covers the game itself and where to find it. You can try the Sweet Bonanza demo above in Canadian dollars with play money. Below we explain how the free spins and multiplier bombs work, why the game shows three different RTP figures, which casinos we saw it at, and which tips actually hold up.

How a grid with no paylines pays you

Every spin drops 30 symbols onto six reels of five rows. The game then counts each symbol type across the whole grid. Eight or nine of one kind is the smallest win, ten or eleven pay more, and twelve or more is the top tier. Position does not matter, so a cluster of hearts spread over four reels pays the same as one packed into a corner.

The paytable is steep at the top. Twelve or more red heart candies pay 50x the total bet, while twelve bananas pay 2x. Eight to nine hearts pay 10x, the same count of bananas only 0.25x. In practice most base-game wins come from the fruit, and the candies are what you hope to see repeated.

After a win the Tumble feature takes over. Winning symbols vanish, the ones above slide down and fresh symbols fill the gaps from the top. If the new grid forms another win, it pays and tumbles again, and this repeats until nothing new lands. One paid spin can therefore produce a chain of small wins.

The lollipop is the key symbol

The lollipop is the scatter. It pays on its own wherever it lands: 3x for four, 5x for five and 100x for six. Four or more of them also start the free spins, which is where the game's big numbers live.

Bet range and what 21,100x means at your stake

The demo accepts bets from C$0.20 to C$240 a spin, or up to C$300 with the ante bet switched on. Those are the demo's limits. At a real casino the minimum and maximum are set by that casino, so the range in your account can be narrower.

Because every prize is a multiple of the stake, the same grid pays very different dollar amounts depending on your bet. At the smallest demo stake of C$0.20, the 21,100x cap is C$4,220. Twelve or more hearts, the best regular symbol, return 50x, which is C$10 at that stake. Six lollipops, the top scatter prize, return 100x, or C$20.

The paytable values on this page are multiples of the total bet, read from the demo's rules. If you raise the stake, every line of the table scales with it. Nothing about the odds changes when you bet more; only the size of each win and each loss does.

Where the cap comes from

The 21,100x figure is quoted in the game's own intro screen as a win of over 21,100x the bet. The paytable alone cannot get near it: the base game's best regular prize is 50x. The cap is reached only through free spins, where bombs multiply a long tumble chain. Our guide to max-win odds explains why a high cap and a Low volatility label can sit in the same game.

Where to play Sweet Bonanza

How we know: a casino is listed when its published provider list includes Pragmatic Play; "seen" means the title was in its own top-games row on that date.

Where to play Sweet Bonanza for real money in Canada

Ready to play Sweet Bonanza? Real money play needs an account at a casino that runs Pragmatic Play games, and which casino is legal for you depends on your province. In Ontario, legal sites are registered with the AGCO and run under an agreement with iGaming Ontario. In Alberta, the regulated market opened on 13 July 2026 with AGLC registration and an AiGC agreement. Other provinces have their own government-run site, and offshore casinos hold no provincial licence. You must be 19, or 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.

We looked at lobbies and promotion pages rather than relying on provider lists alone. On 23 October 2026 Sweet Bonanza appeared on these pages:

Each sighting applies to the site where we saw it. A brand's Ontario, Alberta and offshore sites are often run by different companies with different game lists, so a title on one does not prove it is on the other. Open the lobby and search for the game before you deposit.

Free spins, multiplier bombs and the ante bet

Four or more lollipops on one spin award 10 free spins. During the round, three or more lollipops add five more spins, so the feature can run longer than it starts. Free spins Sweet Bonanza players chase for one reason: the multiplier bombs.

A bomb can land only during free spins and carries a value from 2x to 100x. Bombs do not pay on their own. They wait until the tumble sequence finishes, then all the bombs that landed in that sequence are added together and the sum multiplies the total win of the sequence. The bombs are summed, not multiplied by one another, which is why a long tumble chain with several bombs matters far more than any single spin.

Ante bet and buy

The ante bet raises the stake to 1.25x, which on the smallest demo bet of C$0.20 means C$0.25 a spin. In return the game doubles the chance of triggering free spins. While the ante is on, the buy option is switched off.

The buy costs 100x the stake, so C$20 at C$0.20, and starts the free spins at once. It is missing from the UK build of the game. If the button is not in your casino's version, that casino runs a build without it.

Maths

RTP and volatility in dollars

Over a very long run, Sweet Bonanza is set to pay back about C$96.48 of every C$100 wagered; the house keeps about C$3.52. At C$1 a spin, 500 spins means C$500 wagered and an expected cost of about C$17.60 - real sessions land far above or below that.

The same game also exists at 96.49%, 96.60%. A lower version costs more per C$100 wagered, and the casino - not you - picks which one runs.

Low volatility: frequent small wins, the balance moves slowly. The cap is 21,100x: C$21,100 on a C$1 spin.

Three RTP figures for one game

RTP, or return to player, is the share of all money wagered that a slot pays back over a very long run. For Sweet Bonanza the figure depends on where you read it. Pragmatic Play's game page gives 96.48%. The rules inside the demo give a minimum of 96.49% and a maximum of 96.60%, and no other versions are published.

The gap is small, but it tells you something useful: the published number on a provider page is not always the number running in front of you. Casinos can be supplied with different settings, and the place to confirm what you are playing is the game's own info screen at that casino. Open the menu, go to the rules and look for the line that states the theoretical return.

The figures also say nothing about a single session. A 96.6% return is an average over millions of spins. Over an evening, tumble chains and bombs swing results far above or below it.

What Low volatility means here

Pragmatic's own badge in the game rates the volatility Low in both the UK and international builds. Expect frequent small wins from the fruit and tumbles. The 21,100x ceiling sits on top of that: it needs a rare free-spins run with large bombs, and most sessions never come close. Our volatility guide explains how to read these labels.

Sweet Bonanza strategies and tips that hold up

Search for a Sweet Bonanza winning strategy and you will find plenty of systems. None of them can change the result of a spin, because every spin is random and the RTP is fixed by the version the casino runs. What you can control is cost, pace and which options you switch on. Treat the Sweet Bonanza tips below as a short Sweet Bonanza guide to those choices, not a way to beat the game.

  • Check the RTP line first. The info screen shows which version is loaded. That is the closest thing to a Sweet Bonanza best strategy the game allows.
  • Know what the ante costs. It adds 25% to every spin to double the trigger chance. It is a trade, not a free improvement.
  • Price the buy before you press it. At 100x the stake, one purchase equals 100 normal spins and can return less than it cost.
  • Use the demo to learn the bombs. Watching how bombs add up at the end of a tumble is the most useful thing the demo teaches.
  • Set a limit before you start. Decide on a budget and a time limit, and stop when you reach either. Our responsible gambling page lists help lines.

These Sweet Bonanza slot tips apply to other Pragmatic scatter slots too. Our page on how slots work covers the maths behind them.

Free spins with no deposit and promo codes

Two questions come up often: where to get free spins no deposit Sweet Bonanza offers, and whether there is a Sweet Bonanza promo code. The honest answer starts with what the game is. Sweet Bonanza is a slot made by Pragmatic Play. It does not run its own promotions, so there is no promo code attached to the game itself. Any code or free-spin offer belongs to a casino, and that casino's terms decide which games the spins work on, what each spin is worth and how winnings are wagered.

Before you count on an offer for this title, read three things in the terms: the list of eligible games, the spin value, and the wagering on winnings. Our free spins page and the wagering calculator help with the last part.

If you only want to play without paying, you do not need any offer. The Sweet Bonanza demo at the top of this page is Pragmatic Play's own version with play money. It runs in the browser with no account and no deposit, and its info screens carry the game's full rules and paytable. Winnings in the demo are not real and cannot be withdrawn.

Sweet Bonanza or one of its sequels?

Pragmatic has built a whole family on this grid, and the names are easy to mix up. Here is how the original compares with three of its relatives, using each game's own published figures.

GameVolatilityTop winBuy options
Sweet BonanzaLow21,100xFree spins at 100x
Sweet Bonanza 1000Medium25,000x100x and 500x
Sweet Bonanza 2500Medium25,000x100x, 500x and 1,000x
Sweet Rush BonanzaMedium5,000x100x and 500x

The original is the only one of the four with a Low label. The newer games move up to Medium, add more expensive buy tiers and, in the case of Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Sweet Bonanza 2500, raise the cap to 25,000x. Sweet Rush Bonanza has the lowest cap of the group. If you like the original's pace, start there; if you want bigger bombs and pricier options, the sequels are built for that.
