How the fisherman collects

Three, four or five bass scatters award 10, 15 or 20 free spins. From that point the game changes in two ways: the fisherman wild joins the reels, and the fish symbols carry cash values that can be won.

The collect rule is simple. When a fisherman lands on a free spin, he collects the value of every fish money symbol on screen at that moment. A fish without a fisherman on the same spin pays nothing beyond its normal line value. A fisherman without fish still acts as a wild for line wins, but he has nothing to collect.

Every fisherman landed also counts towards a retrigger ladder. The game tallies them across the round:

That is the full ladder: three retriggers at most, after which no more spins are added. The multiplier applies to the fish values a fisherman collects, which is why late spins in a long round can be worth far more than early ones.

The random fish

One extra rule helps rounds that are going badly. If exactly one fisherman is on screen at the end of a free spin, fish money symbols can appear on the reels. The rules do not promise it every time, only that it can happen in that situation.

None of this exists in the base game, which is what makes the free spins the whole reason to play.

Fish values and the 2,100x ceiling

Each fish money symbol shows one of eight values, all as multiples of the total bet: 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 2,000x. Seven of those are modest. The eighth is the one the game is built around, because a single 2,000x fish nearly reaches the slot's stated maximum win of 2,100x on its own.

In dollars, the ceiling follows directly from the bet range:

• At the C$0.10 minimum, 2,100x is C$210.
• At the C$250 maximum, 2,100x is C$525,000.

Next to the 15,000x of Gates of Olympus 1000, 2,100x is a low top prize. It fits the Low volatility label covered below. If a large multiple is what you want, look at the high-volatility slots instead.

The base game cannot reach anything close to the top. The best line, five fishing floats, pays 200x the bet, which is less than a tenth of the cap. Every large result on this slot comes from fish collected during free spins, ideally after the multiplier has climbed the ladder.

Low volatility, according to the game's own rules

Pragmatic's current in-game rules label Big Bass Bonanza's volatility as Low, on the three-step Low, Medium and High scale the studio now uses. You will find much higher ratings quoted on other sites, often on an older five-step scale. We follow the label in the game itself, because it is the one the provider stands behind today, and it was the same in both jurisdiction builds checked.
